SETTING PORCELAIN TABLEWARE TRENDS

Ceramic industry expert RAK Ceramics added a new chapter with the launch of RAK Porcelain LLC in the United Arab Emirates in the year 2005. Situated strategically in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, the company quickly went on to become one of the world’s leading suppliers of professional grade porcelain tableware in the HORECA industry. From an initial capacity of 15 million pieces in 2005 and a further capacity increase to 24 million in 2018, RAK Porcelain is today at a pivotal point, as the company is currently making major Investments to expand both spatially and numerically to meet burgeoning market demands and to target new growth avenues. The final manufacturing space is being expanded to 100,000 square meters with the yearly production capacity being raised to 36 million pieces. This investment is planned to reduce production lead times by several weeks and to cater to the varied categories of porcelain tableware the company ventured into.

RAK Porcelain is one of the only tableware companies which produces 4 different porcelain bodies in the same factory. The tableware specialist started with an ivory-coloured porcelain body, “Ivoris”, before expanding their product offering with the addition of an extra bright white porcelain body, “Polaris”. Then followed the age of social media, in particular with the launch of Instagram, where the company went into producing colour- and trend-forward products named “Fusion” to respond to the changing needs of the market. Recently, “Rakstone” a stoneware-type material was introduced, followed by a blast from the past and a nostalgia kindling Terracotta range “RAK Earth” which has the antique look and feel of traditional pottery, combined with the properties of porcelain, which makes for a perfect mix for professional use.

The company also ventured into producing its premium Bone China range “Le Ballet” from the same plant. This range is a striking combination of elegance, translucency, and exceptional lightness. In addition to several white bone china series, RAK Porcelain also developed a beautifully decorated collection of porcelain tableware with golden details which is bound to adorn Michelin star and high-end restaurants and redefine the way fine dining is presented.
